ECOWAS Fashion Week in Nigeria

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is launching her very first ECOWAS fashion week in Nigeria in her 38 years anniversary celebration. The fashion week is coming up this May 2013, it is to enable designers, manufacturers, sellers and buyers of African fabrics reap full dividends.
Some established fashion designers have made use of African clothing or rather African fabrics such as; Ankara, Aso-Ebi, Aso-Oke, Arma Serwaa, Akosombo, Akwete, Tie & dye, Kente and Bonsu to mention but a few in their collections that they showcase them in some of the major fashion event that took place in different part of the world which include, fashion events in London, New York, Paris, Milan and Johannesburg, Italy and some major fashion events in and around the world. This year ECOWAS Fashion Week 2013 aims to boost textile, apparel and fashion design across ECOWAS countries, which in turn would generate revenue to the people and the government and also generate new employment opportunities in the region.
The ECOWAS fashion week/ ECOWAS 38th years anniversary dedicate 2 special days for fashion in the whole week, the two days are 25th and 26th of May, 2013. The 25th is for fashion seminar which is tagged “The Business Side of Fashion” and the 26th is for gala night.
There are enough guest speakers, designers, artistes and many more dignitaries that are coming across the state of ECOWAS for the week-long event.
